Hotel Villa Schuler Taormina

A dream hotel

Taormina is the Positano of Sicily. A breath of Italian fresh air, located on a hill with views that make you want to cry.

If you are wondering where to stay in Sicily and specifically in Taormina, look no further.

For my first night in Taormina, I booked the Hotel Villa Schuler, a place that pops up whenever you do some research on where to stay in Taormina.

Hotel Villa Schuler is the oldest family owned hotel of Taormina, opened in 1905 by a German family that settled in Taormina. The hotel has a long history of succes and challenges, imagine it has survived two wars and is now lead by the 4th generation!

The philosophy of Villa Schuler is to spread their love for the island of Sicily with their guests and that is what you see everywhere in their hotel. From the beautiful furniture, the views and the breakfast with only local products, to the friendliness of the staff that speaks multiple languages to be able to make everyone feel at home.

The rooms

Villa Schuler has 31 rooms of which 7 junior suites and one garden villa suites. The rooms are decorated in a beautiful classic style that reminds of a luxurious past. The bed are orthopedic, there are jacuzzi showers and baths, airconditioning, hair dryers, wifi and fridges. Every room has a beautiful view of either the sea side or the garden.

The garden

Making Villa Schuler extra special are its gardens. From the busy Main Street “Corso Umberto” you enter an oasis of green of 1500 square meters! The large terraced garden has been laid out by Eugenio Schuler palm- and lemon trees, rosemary and sage, jasmines and bougainvilleas, a pergola, a pavillion and various cosy furnished corners. There is a tree that is 200 years old and is the oldest tree in Taormina.

The breakfast

Whoever you ask about Villa Schuler always talks about the breakfast. The breakfast is a la carte, and has been like this since the beginning. It is a reason for many people to come back to this wonderful place. The breakfast is served at the terrace with stunning view, in the breakfast room or even in bed! You can order as much as you want and everything is freshly prepared. Holy moly!

Hotel Villa Schuler is one of these places I really wish to return and I can recommend it to anyone that loves class an elegance and great personal service.
