Things to do in Amsterdam

By India Donisi

Amsterdam! The city of joy. Having lived in Amsterdam for over ten years, I love to share with you all there is to discover!

– Museums

Make sure to visit the Van Gogh and the Rijksmuseum, lovers of modern art should go for Stedelijk museum.

– Restaurants

Amsterdam knows a rich gastronomic culture, featuring cuisines from all over the world. Lately my favorite restaurants have been:

– French: Brasserie Van Baerle

– Peruvian: Nazka

– Asian: Yuan’s hotpot

– Japanese: Ken Sushi

– Canal tour

Rent a little boat and discover the beautiful canals or hop on a tourist boat that will give you a quick tour with historical facts about the city.

-Rent a bike

Discovering Amsterdam by bike is a beautiful way to get to know the city. It isn’t a huge city so by bike you can easily move from one place to another. Just be very careful if you aren’t all too experienced since traffic can be very hectic!

-Chill in the park

Amsterdam has lovely parks to have a picnic or just enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Visit Vondelpark, Rembrandpark or Oosterpark on a sunny day and you’ll feel like a local!

-Visit a coffeeshop

Of course Amsterdam is famous for the coffee shops where you can get much more than only coffee, if you know what I mean! Coming from abroad it’s a fun thing to witness, even if you don’t smoke yourself. Same goes for the red light district. It might not be the most inspiring area but if you come to Amsterdam you can’t almost leave without seeing it.
